History

Main Line Independent’s 2024 production “What Remains” depicts what’s constant among all living things: once our time on Earth has passed, all that remains is our bones and our memories. We become one with the landscape that’s been carved and worn by the passage of time, decorated with fossils from the dawn of history.

Past Shows

2023 - "Flicker"

Using a selection of songs by Jo Blankenburg, Main Line Independent’s 2023 production entitled “Flicker” brings a flickering flame to life as it glows and dances around the end of a match.

2022 - "Medusa: Queen of the Condemned"

Greek mythology tells the story of a punished woman with hair of snakes whose gaze petrifies anyone it meets. Her grotesque appearance almost as unforgiving as her stone cold heart.

But what if she isn’t the villain?

In Main Line Independent’s 2022 production, “Medusa: Queen of the Condemned,” we see Medusa’s journey through her own cursed eyes. From fear to sadness, anger to acceptance, witness the internal struggle as she makes her way to empowerment.

2021 - "Saturday Night With The Pack"

Step back into 1950s Las Vegas as we spend an evening at the iconic Sands Hotel lounge with the Rat Pack. Featuring the music of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin, and RJD2, our 2021 production “Saturday Night With The Pack” takes classic songs from the era and gives them a modern twist.

2020 - "Escape"

Harry Houdini was one of the greatest illusionists of all time, captivating audiences around the world with his death defying escapes. Our 2020 production “Escape” embodies the wonder and mystery of Houdini by highlighting elements from some of his most famous stunts.

2019 - "The Dressmaker"

Set to the music of David Hirschfelder, Main Line Independent’s 2019 production “The Dressmaker” demonstrates all of the frustration, tireless efforts, and pride that go into the creative process of couture fashion design from the moment of inspiration to the final product.

2018 - "Poisoned Paradise"

“We must shift America from a needs, to a desires culture.  People must be trained to desire, to want new things even before the old had been entirely consumed. We must shape a new mentality in America. Man’s desires must overshadow his needs.” – Paul Mazur

We are seduced by advertising on a daily basis, programmed to constantly want the next big thing with little consideration for the toxic consequences.  Main Line Independent’s 2018 production “Poisoned Paradise” explores consumerism’s impact on the natural world.

2017 - "Force of Nature"

“And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.” — Haruki Murakami

Main Line Independent’s 2017 production “Force of Nature” features music by Christian Reindl and showcases the progression of a storm.

2016 - "Strong Enough"

Main Line Independent’s 2016 production “Strong Enough,” featuring a haunting rendition of Believe by Cher, represents the moment in your life when you eliminate the thought, person, or behavior that is holding you back.

Sometimes we find ourselves struggling to break free from our inner demons only to be pulled back in by the negative forces that hold us hostage.  We may become weak, making it difficult to fight back, but end up finding the strength to push through. Are you strong enough?

2016 marked MLI’s inaugural season competing in WGI Independent Open Class.
